G&G Reader Survey Results

Results of the reader survey conducted between August 19 and August 23, 2010. Survey details:

• 37 respondents completed the survey.
• The survey was conducted and summarized via Google Documents.
• There were 15 questions that were either multiple-choice or a rating, plus one open-ended question.
• None of the questions were required, and some allowed more than one selection, thus responses do not necessarily add up to 37 or 100% for each question.

• Thanks for offering a voice out there. As a woman over 30, we aren’t abundant enough in the blogging community. I appreciate the fashion of course, but your candor and original content as well
• Advertising works if its curated. The ads need to be of brands/products that align with Grit and Glamour not just random google adsense/banners. The ads also need to look great but not get confused with the man real estate of the blog. I really like the way Glamourai uses her sponsors and in turn I view there products in a new way. I love ads that lead to the discovery of new independent makers/designers or brands that sell online. Those who complain about ads on blogs are being unrealistic. So much time is spent blogging and creating an welcoming environment for readers – why shouldn’t  the editor/blogger receive assistance in paying the running costs. Having a blog costs time and money.
• I heart your blog!
• It is often difficult to see older post.  I would rather roll down and see what you’ve been doing instead of clicking of the past titles.
• G&G rapidly shot to the top of my list of fave blogs and the V-ster up there with my favorite bloggers. Why? Quality of content, quality of writer and the irresistible charm of Vahni. I actually have to keep myself from blurting “”i love you!!!”" in the comments. Oh I should mention integrity. The quality AND the integrity of the voice really cinch the deal for me. I trust V.
• I think this is a great blog and so glad I came across it through her vlog on Indpendent Fashion Bloggers via her Build a Better Blog Vlog and subsequently Friend Fridays! V is an awesome person with a ton a knowledge and and fashion sense!
• Would have to be the blog I visit the most and find the most inspirational.

• You seriously got a good, er GREAT thing going already, but it says a lot about you to inquire about readers opinions and to listen to what they have to say. Above all, your attentiveness to the audience and straight-forward/real personality and supported original content really make this blog very enjoyable. Kudos V.

• My thoughts on advertising are such: as long as it is subtle and directly pertains to the content of the blog, it doesn’t bother me. anything that flashes, moves, pops or otherwise distracts me from actual blog content will send me running, and I won’t come back.My feelings on Vlogs (not just yours, but all of them), are that they disrupt my stream of blog reading. I’ve come to start reading quite a few blogs a day, and do so in different ways. Sometimes on my iPhone, so watching a video is not ideal. Sometimes (okay, everyday) my internet is impossibly slow and videos won’t load properly and I have to fuss with it just to get it work, which makes me crazy. So when I see posts with not much more than a video, I might tell myself I’ll come back to it later, and then forget to.
• I like V because she’s real and she doesn’t sugar coat. She has really good posts on how you can make your blog better and I enjoy that. Friend Friday is nice but bloggers only look at certain blogs and it’s not a interaction with all the bloggers who do Friend Friday so some blogs have no responses on them at all. I try to post to everyone but it’s quite a few bloggers who post so I do what I can. All in all I like Grit and Glamour, fun read. Vlogs are cool.
