Last year, this image of Mary Seng (of Happily Grey) cavorting in her white Isabel Marant Deyis ankle boots sent me into a white-bootie-frenzy of epic proportions. I fell in LOVE with this boot and its versatility—especially that lower, totally walkable heel (oh hell, my age is really showing now!).
But a white bootie at Marant-level pricing? Uh, no can do. I searched high and low and found no quality white ankle boots—of a high or low heel—anywhere in the world for under about $500. I found one pair from Zara on eBay and bought them, only to discover they were a little small, so back on eBay they went. Then I ordered a pair from ASOS that came in a little large and plasticky, so they went back too.
I’m glad I never bit the bullet on a pair last year/season, because this fall, they are IT and they are everywhere, with prices mostly below $200 for those of us not willing to pay top dollar for anything white, ever.
For those of you gripped with white-bootie-frenzy, here’s a roundup of some budget-friendly beauties. I did purchase the Steve Madden Editor, and they are gorgeous on, but only comfortable with some cushioned insoles. I do have my eye on the very Marant-esque Schutz Lupe in white, but it’s sold out in my size at the moment. When they restock, they are mine!
