Watch This: Her

Her movie posterI’ve fallen out of love with movies of late. It just seems that so many new releases are filled with gratuitous gore, violence, an overabundance of special effects, or just plain stupidity.

Finally, a movie with substance has come along, and if you’re a technophile and a fan of the tremendously talented Joaquin Phoenix, I think you’re going to like it. The plot is refreshing, poignant, and utterly thought-provoking. And Joaquin’s Theodore Twombly…well, I dare you not to fall in love with him, ladies. ‘Stache and all.

We all love our machines, God help us, but there is nothing like a warm body beside you, a hand to hold…

Go see it!

  1. I’m looking forward to seeing this — although I’ll probably have to wait for it to come to U-Verse’s On Demand service; I don’t get out to actual theaters much anymore. I enjoy these “ghost in the machine” stories, in the sense of computers and data reaching intelligent complexity. I didn’t even realize Mr. Phoenix starred. That will be delicious icing on the cake.

    1. He is as magnetic in this movie as he was in Walk the Line…different energy, for sure, but it just illustrates his incredible talent!

  2. love joaquin…and while i do love my special effects movies, i also love the quiet simple movies about life and find myself at our local small theater houses watching foreign and indie flicks on the regular..

will definitely add this to the list..

With that in mind, I’m going to suggest “American Hustle”. Incredible acting, a story that wasn’t quite what I expected, some GREAT chemistry (and amazing costumes)…

I’m looking forward to seeing “Her,” and luckily our old movie one-screen movie theatre should get it soon..
