The Cape that Launched a Thousand Capes

You know what I’m talking about. The Gwynnie cape. From the master himself, TOM FORD. If Glinda were visiting Dorothy today, I feel fairly certain this is what she would wear. Hell, let’s just cast Gwynnie as Glinda right now, and ask her to bring THE DRESS.

We all derive inspiration from somewhere, and I would never DREAM of trying to crank out new looks five times a year. Fashion designers have a very tough job, and that is not written in jest. That said, I can see how it would be impossible to erase this image of utter perfection from a designer’s mind. It is unforgettable.

TOM FORD, you are brilliant. Behold:

Oh that cape last year on Gwyneth. It was so good! I love Tom Ford, although the only thing of his I can afford is the nail polish (and I love it–Bordeaux Lust, great color and quality polish!). Happy Valentine’s Day to you my dear Vahni. YOU inspire me! And hello, nice arm and back in the previous post. Dang you are looking good! XO, Jill

I love the cape trend and I’m very glad that it seems to be evolving forward rather than disappearing. As for gwennie’s cape and dress, I think it was the best of last years gowns. Totally memorable yet simple and elegant. I think Tom ford is doing what Calvin Klein used to do in the early 90′s, only better because Tom fords clothes are sexier.

Nothing will ever top Gwynnie’s cape… though I do love that reem acra and zac posen (that color!).

Don’t forget about the RED version of the TF (http://www.fulltimeford.com/2012/07/13/tom-ford-autumn-winter-2012-2013-ad-campaign-hi-res/). It puts that Valentino to shame!

This post makes me seriously want to go out and drop £350 on a Tom Ford shirt or something. That Gwyneth dress is stunning!

I recently had a comment on my ‘what would Tom Ford do?’ post because a lady googled it after tell her husband “just think what would Tom Ford do?” when he asked her for some style advice.

Gotta love the man!

Oh how I remember that cape. I’m not sure I’m a cape person and how many people could pull off her look but man does she look so stunning. I’m in awe.
