WVW: WTFrock?*

April 22, 2012 · 37 comments

Don’t ask me what I was thinking when I went into LOFT the day before Orthodox Easter, and walked out with this very non-Vahni floral frock. I don’t know what the frock happened.

*WVW = What V Wore
Dress: LOFT • Belt:  BCBGMAXAZRIA • Heels: BCBGMAXAZRIA • Ring: YSL
Bracelets (all by Stella & Dot): Devi Bangles (6); Rhea Bangles (3); Renegade Cluster BraceletSerpent Bangle

Actually I do know what happened. This:

I bought the belt the same day. Had been eyeing it for a while. The hint of snake, those gleaming spikes—that really kind of hurt if anyone gets too close—they had me at gold. So I walked out of BCBGMAXAZRIA with the belt, and I must of been in some kind of crazy Easter-egg-induced-pastel-kind-of-mood when I spotted the dress and actually picked it up off the rack.

Belt and dress in hand, I slipped into the dressing room. Oh, it was comfy. And what a fetching little frock it would be for entertaining company the next day. When I put the belt on, it kind of melted that icky floral sweetness a bit. The unexpected accessory. It was Vahni-fied.  A leeeeettle naughty. I fell in love. The end.

Have you bought against type lately? What did you pick up that was totally not you?

I LOVE that dress! I am an Ann Taylor freak, I always find fun pieces to wear to work but I still fee youthful and stylish. You happen to look stunning in floral, the belt I think makes it very Vahni I think!

I love that you “Vahni-fied” it with that belt! It’s amazing how you can take something so outside your normal style and still make it spectacularly you. That is a woman who really knows her personal style. You look stunning!

Oh my God – you look amazing!! I love you in that dress! And the belt is a touch of genius. I’ve actually banned myself from buying any more black this season and am trying to wear more colour, I’m really loving pastels at the moment.

Lord Vahni! I don’t think the dress should have been lowered to “frock” status. I actually think it looks nice on you. I also love the floral print and neckline. I am pretty bossom heavy and I seriously need to start making a habit of wearing necklines like that. However, I think this is also what makes this dress not you. I think your style is more consistently glam and sexy (not overt). We get a hint of the Vahni that we are used to in the belt though. As for me, I dress in whatever, based on my mood so to answer your question, yes, I dress out of type all the time. (-:

Uhh, I LOVE the new non-Vahni print, but totally know what you mean, it’s sure not your typical V-look. Sometimes change is good, especially if you look smashing in colours like these. ahem, and that belt is brilliant! OMG my favourite. :)

Oh my where do I even start with this?! Just going into BCBG myself a couple of weeks ago was the start of some unexpected colour mission lol. I bought a pink dress (I also bought the same in black, like some kind of weird vindication) but you know I kinda like the style difference. I think you rock the colours here V and as for that belt well I can see how the ‘contradiction’ in the two pieces got you. You’re gorgeous woman – hope you get lots of wear out of this piece!
