WVW: WTFrock?*

Don’t ask me what I was thinking when I went into LOFT the day before Orthodox Easter, and walked out with this very non-Vahni floral frock. I don’t know what the frock happened.

Actually I do know what happened. This:

I bought the belt the same day. Had been eyeing it for a while. The hint of snake, those gleaming spikes—that really kind of hurt if anyone gets too close—they had me at gold. So I walked out of BCBGMAXAZRIA with the belt, and I must of been in some kind of crazy Easter-egg-induced-pastel-kind-of-mood when I spotted the dress and actually picked it up off the rack.

Belt and dress in hand, I slipped into the dressing room. Oh, it was comfy. And what a fetching little frock it would be for entertaining company the next day. When I put the belt on, it kind of melted that icky floral sweetness a bit. The unexpected accessory. It was Vahni-fied.  A leeeeettle naughty. I fell in love. The end.

Have you bought against type lately? What did you pick up that was totally not you?

  1. A leetle naughty, but very niiiiiiiiice honey! Sometimes it takes a teeny tiny accessory to getcah thinkin’ outside your box~ Love this floral feminine side of you…sweet in the front…Party HARDY in the back! That’s the thing about spikes ;D

  2. I LOVE that dress! I am an Ann Taylor freak, I always find fun pieces to wear to work but I still fee youthful and stylish. You happen to look stunning in floral, the belt I think makes it very Vahni I think!

  3. Oh my you look gorgeous. I love the print on you and that belt rocks with that dress. Would you believe it’s 56 degrees in my neck of the woods and it was in the 80s last week. Oh my!

  4. I love that you “Vahni-fied” it with that belt! It’s amazing how you can take something so outside your normal style and still make it spectacularly you. That is a woman who really knows her personal style. You look stunning!

  5. I love how you made an unexpected choice so very you with the belt! The belt, by the way, is absolutely amazing. You look gorgeous in pastels – such a beautiful contrast to your hair!

  6. Oh my God – you look amazing!! I love you in that dress! And the belt is a touch of genius. I’ve actually banned myself from buying any more black this season and am trying to wear more colour, I’m really loving pastels at the moment.

  7. Typical style or not…you look AMAZING! Love the dress on you..so fresh for spring and isn’t it great to sometimes take a quick departure from our personal style:)

  8. I had to do a double take when I realized it was you in the floral dress in my Bloglovin feed lol. Nonetheless, it looks so lovely on you, and that belt is so fab and Vahni!

  9. Lord Vahni! I don’t think the dress should have been lowered to “frock” status. I actually think it looks nice on you. I also love the floral print and neckline. I am pretty bossom heavy and I seriously need to start making a habit of wearing necklines like that. However, I think this is also what makes this dress not you. I think your style is more consistently glam and sexy (not overt). We get a hint of the Vahni that we are used to in the belt though. As for me, I dress in whatever, based on my mood so to answer your question, yes, I dress out of type all the time. (-:

  10. Gosh.. Why are you so beautiful and fashionista? I really like how you bring those dresses and those accessories as well.. You are stunning!

  11. Uhh, I LOVE the new non-Vahni print, but totally know what you mean, it’s sure not your typical V-look. Sometimes change is good, especially if you look smashing in colours like these. ahem, and that belt is brilliant! OMG my favourite. 🙂

  12. Your signature black is always flattering, but I think your floral dress is fab! Switching up your choices is the fun part of personal style. I cant say I’ve switched up my style type in recent years, but your inspiring me to try a switch up myself.

  13. Oh my where do I even start with this?! Just going into BCBG myself a couple of weeks ago was the start of some unexpected colour mission lol. I bought a pink dress (I also bought the same in black, like some kind of weird vindication) but you know I kinda like the style difference. I think you rock the colours here V and as for that belt well I can see how the ‘contradiction’ in the two pieces got you. You’re gorgeous woman – hope you get lots of wear out of this piece!
