Fashion’s Night Out at Gucci, 5th Avenue

I ♥ Gucci.

I know, this is a shocking revelation, right?! Right.

OK, we all know I love Gucci the brand, Gucci the philosophy, Gucci the lifestyle. So when this little invitation arrived in my inbox, there was no doubt in my mind where I’d be for Fashion’s Night Out…

The house of Gucci made it a double celebration—an east coast debut of the Fiat 500 by Gucci, and the 500 by Gucci collection—plus a fabulous shopping event where they ply you with champagne while tempting you with two stories of double-G deliciousness. A highly dangerous and indulgent combination, for sure.

I popped by the event with Lee and Anika, and I have to tell you that we had a blast. The Fiat was adorbs. I need this car. Seriously, a GUCCI CAR?! I love it. The only customization I would request is a double-G icon in the grill. Can you imagine?

After perusing the 500 and the bottom floor, we headed up to the second floor to check out the women’s, men’s, and children’s ready-to-wear collections. I had a blast trying on some of the most delectable pieces of the fall/winter 2011 collection. Lee indulged me…actually, he styled me for the first photo, and took several shots with his iPhone. Should he ever tire of streetstyle photography, he’s got a future in styling.

I’m wearing a top and culottes from Club Monaco (fall 2011); Gucci fur scarf and wide-brimmed hat; and the belt and Alexa platform boots are my own, by Gucci.

In this photo, I’ve thrown a fur jacket over my outfit. Not sure which one it is, but I can tell you this: the photo doesn’t do it justice. It was incredible in person. Gleaming black and totally gorgeous. Couldn’t leave it on too long for fear of drooling on it.

Eventually I toddled over to the children’s section and fell hopelessly in love with this little fur coat with signature green/red/green stripe belt complete with a double-G logo buckle. It could be the cutest thing I have ever laid eyes on. I can just imagine it on the mini-me I’ll probably never have. Sigh.

All photos above by Lee Oliveira.

After taking in the womenswear and children’s sections, we stopped for a respite (and champers) in the shoe salon, where I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Can you blame me? I’m sipping champagne amidst Gucci stilettos and boots, with Lee and Jamie from Sydney, and Anika from Oslo, on 5th Avenue in New York. When will that ever happen again?! I

With Lee and Anika. Don’t you love Lee’s tie? And apparently none of us are immune to Gucci shoe lust…

And then a perfect ending to a perfect night. Dinner with my beloved friends from Australia, Norway and Italy…and a Kir Royale. Mmmm.

Thanks to Gucci for the invitation, and an even bigger thank you to Lee, Anika, C, and J for making that night magical and memorable. I wish we could get together all the time. Next on my shopping list: A Lear jet.

I’m glad to see i’m not the only on obsessed with Gucci, DC was literally under water this year for FNO and I’m kind of upset that I didn’t make it out. Everybody else that i know braved the storms and went out and had a great time. I love all the stuff you took pictures in, and I just love furs, I know it’s wrong, but I LOVE them!!! I’m glad to see Anika come to NY. I would have loved to have met you all in NY. I think Next time, no excuse I am going to NY next year. I’m stalking all the blogs on anything related to this and last week in NY.

  10. That fur scarf with the little hangy hangy tassels … I am in love. It is so parisian vintage chic. Please tell me it costs about $20 buckeroos so I can bring it home and love it forever and ever.
