I’ve always loved September.
Back when I was girl, September meant the beginning of school—which meant new school supplies, new clothing (yay!), and a new chance at carving my future, my destiny. It was my line of demarcation between scorching summer heat and the comfortable crispness of autumn. For me, September (more than January) is a better time to begin anew, when you are not bloated from holiday partying and broke from buying Christmas presents. September comes on the heels of sunlight and summer frolicking—a time of rest—which makes it ideal for buckling down and tackling new projects, careers, or attitudes.
It’s a good thing we get all summer to lollygag, my fellow fashion fanatics, because September is the month for fashion (as if September issue tomes didn’t point to that already…another reason I love September…mags full of furs and boots!). And this September is no exception. In fact, there is so much going on, it’s hard to remember it all. So I created this post to help you (and me) keep track.
September Fashion Schedule
The Rachel Zoe Project | 9.6.2011 | U.S.
Watch darling stylista Rachel Zoe tackle dressing star clients, attending fashion week(s), designing her own line, and managing her company—all while preggers. It’s an interesting development in the world of Rach and Rodg, and is likely to make the fourth season of RZP the best ever. Premieres on Bravo, September 6th at 10pm ET, 9pm Central. Hashtag: #RachelZoeProject
Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference | 9.7.2011 | New York, New York
You know this is the most important event for fashion bloggers this season! Elle Creative Director Joe Zee keynotes, and panelists include Coca Rocha, Manrepeller Leandra Medine, and many more, plus…me!The conference will be livestreamed. Check back here on the 7th for the feed and more details. Hashtag: #IFBCon
Lucky FABB Conference | 9.7.2011 | New York, New York
The other fashion blogger conference that’s popped up the last couple seasons, hosted by Lucky magazine. Coca Rocha will apparently be dashing from IFB Con to Lucky Fabb since she’s on tap for both. Also speaking are Diane von Furstenburg, Rodger Berman (yes, Rach’s Rodg), Kelly Framel of The Glamourai, and the ubiquitous Kardashian sisters. Hashtag: #LuckyFabb
Zara Online Shopping Launch | 9.7.2011 | USA
For those (like me), who too often have seen Zara listed among the labels of fashion blogger OOTD posts—and then felt the sting of exclusion with no Zara within shopping distance—well, the moment we’ve been salivating for is nearly here. International retailer Zara, known for its affordable, designer-influenced collections, will offer online shopping and order fulfillment to U.S.-based shoppers beginning next Wednesday (when everything on earth seems to be happening). Don’t know about y’all, but I know what I’m going to be doing after the fashion week dust settles. Hashtag: #Zara
Mercedes Benz Fashion Week | 9.8.2011 – 9.15.2011 |New York, New York
The spring 2012 shows kick off in the Big Apple, but even if you don’t have any show invitations in your hands, many brands—including DVF, Rebecca Minkoff, and BCBGMAXAZRIA—will livestream, so be sure to check the digital schedule. Hashtag: #MBFW, #NYFW
Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) | 9.8.2011 | Global
Vogue editrix Anna Wintour started this shopping event to boost fashion sales during the recession of 2009, and it has since become an annual, global event that kicks off the start of the spring shows in New York. On FNO, fashion consumers are feted with treats, goodie bags, designer appearances, signed eidtions, and more when they shop that night. Check FNO Worldwide for details about events in your country. Hashtag: #FNO
Blogger’s Night Out | 9.9.2011 | New York, New York
The inaugural Blogger’s Night Out event takes place in just a little over a week, and is sure to be a hit. The event will bring more than 250 fashion bloggers and industry insiders together for cocktails and real-life mingling. Hashtag: #BNO
Missoni for Target | 9.13.2011 | USA
The most anticipated limited-edition Target/designer collaboration hits stores and Target.com next month. Missoni puts its iconic chevron print on clothing, accessories, home goods and more—and you’ll never get Missoni again at that price, so it’s sure to be a sellout. Get thee to Target bright and early! Hashtag: #MissoniforTarget
London Fashion Week | 9.16.2011 – 9.21.2011 | London, England
After New York is always London. My fave Aussie line, Sass & Bide, shows in London, as does perennially brilliant Burberry. Burberry did livestream last season, but full digital broadcast details are not yet available. Check the complete London digital schedule for updates. Hashtags: #LFW, #LondonFashionWeek
Blogger Brilliance | 9.17.2011 | Tampa, Florida
A new, Bauble Bar-sponsored conference has cropped up in the southeastern U.S. that includes two tracks for bloggers: fashion and food. The first part of the conference features a panel of bloggers, including Kristina of Pretty Shiny Sparkly, and me again (!), plus several others. The second part of the conference offers attendees the opportunity to see a Tim Gunn-hosted fashion show, or an exclusive tasting/foodie experience with a chef. This conference will not be livestreamed. Hashtag: #BloggerBrilliance
Milan Fashion Week | 9.21.2011 – 9.27.2011 | Milan, Italy
Milan follows London in terms of major fashion week runway shows, but it is perhaps one of the most anticipated because of the number of extraordinary Italian designers who show only in Milan. I’m talking Gucci, Fendi, Versace, Armani, Valentino, Prada, Pucci, Dolce & Gabanna, Cavalli, and more. The complete schedule is a bit unwieldy (come on, Milan, you need a better site!)—but if you use the drop-down at the top of the page, you can see who is showing when. Livestreaming deets are not yet available, but you should expect livestreams to coincide with the show schedule that is currently posted. Check back for details, or go to the sites or Facebook pages of your favorite Italian designers to see what they might have planned. Hashtags: #MFW, #MilanFashionWeek
Paris Fashion Week | 9.27.2011 – 10.5.2011 | Paris, France
The last of the big four ready-to-wear fashion weeks happens in France. The show schedule includes Chanel, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Givenchy, and many more delicious Parisian designers. No livestream schedule has been announced, so again, check the sites or Facebook pages of your favorite designers for more information. Hashtags: #PFW, #ParisFashionWeek
