Transition to Fall in DKNY

I’m soooo over 100-degree days, aren’t you? To keep sane (and cool), I’ve been window shopping fall offerings on the Web in the comfort of my air-conditioned abode. I don’t know about the rest of you in the northern hemisphere, but every year about this time I can’t wait to fast forward to autumn. I’m anxiously awaiting my September issues, but from what I’ve seen online, this fall is looking spectacular.

When My-Wardrobe.com asked if I’d put together a couple looks featuring DKNY, I knew I’d find the perfect pieces for a summer-to-fall transition—I’ve always loved Donna Karan’s minimalism and aesthetic.

Here’s how I’d style the DKNY Color Block Dress and Sleeveless V-Neck Jumpsuit for a weekday and weekend look…

  1. I seriously am DYING over all the yummy capes and capelets…especially the ones with the knit sleeves!!! SoCal’s still too dang hot to wear anything other than A/C…which is why, like you, I’m keeping indoors until Fall!…Although I’d rock that jumpsuit out in a heartbeat! For GNO of course 😀

    Peace. Love. LOL!

  2. me it’s the emmerald blue, or petrol blue, or indigo or teal, however you call it. It’s a colour I’ve always loved to wear, and I already have some nail laquer in it and a cardie I scored in the sales. The deep winter shades are really calling out to me 🙂

  3. Oh, that jumpsuit is just wonderful. When it comes to fall, the item that truly defines for me is…the old but always fashionable trench.

  4. I’m tempted to try a jumpsuit! never done it! I have a couple of colleagues who rocked a black strapless jumpsuit (and I have to point out that they have different body types). hmmm

  5. I’m normally not into jumpsuits, but I love how you’ve styled it here. Maybe I have to rethink it. I’m seeing a ton of leopard shirts and sweaters in the stores, also the tie-neck blouse, which I am convinced is making a comeback because of the past two summers of Yves Saint Laurent retrospectives in Paris (YSL and Rive Gauche). I am currently on the hunt for one in black!

  6. I usually look forward to Summer and somewhat hate for it to end, but I am SO over this 100 degree (plus) weather this year. That jumpsuit is great, and I love how you styled the color blocked dress!!

I’m looking forward to more color blocking, platform booties and wedges, printed pants, everything really, lol.

  7. I’m glad colorblocking is here to stay, even if it’s only for a while. It is just so fun, spruces up every outfit and sure to put a smile on my face! I love that dress, one could almost call it colorblocking light, the black is classic, but then the pink skirt part makes it fun!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

  8. Holy hat!! That is THE watch my hubby bought me as an anniversary gift! I love it! I still can’t go with the jumpsuit though > I don’t want to completely undress several times a day! I do love that clutch and the statement necklace!! Great choices!!

  9. No one loves a jumper more than ME…and I feel like that color blocked dress is begging for me to throw a white colored shirt underneath..some tall black boots…and go for a total 70’s feel.
LOVE what you did with it…to wear RIGHT NOW…
A great piece to wear immediately and also transition you right into fall…..
Hope you have some hot plans for the weekend.

  10. Yay for hairstylist moms! I do miss having the access to free hair care and eyebrow waxing whenever. At least now she sends me good products and gives me facials when I go home! PS-I can’t wait to meet you at the IFB pre-con drinks meetup!

  11. I am already in full fall mode. I just can’t resist all the goodies floating into the store. Anything Mad Men Mod, with loud prints, or remotely related to a jumpsuit catches my eye. And my credit card pays the price….ouch!

  12. Love the day and night options, and while I’m not a jump suit person (my top and bottom don’t necessarily match up well for that), your evening look is something I would totally test out.
PS: LOVED Your last post about sponsorships. Great reminder…. I’m in PR yet with blogging I often forget the basics. Why will I take $25 for a brand I don’t love to put an ad on my site when I charge a heck of a lot more for my PR services? I won’t do it… all about how you value yourself. (sorry for the side-note topic! hah).

    1. I can understand that! I know most people just love summer. And I do too, when it’s not searing! Hope Ibiza was fab. Duh. Of course it was!

  13. That’s a gorgeous jumpsuit. One of my favourite brands Reiss are doing some similar styles this Autumn Winter, and like you I’m done with the sticky humidity and can’t wait to get my layers on again. In fact this weekend I was out in my back yard taking pics with my blazer, I swear the neighbours think I am crazy 🙂 One trend I am anticipating with both awe and dread is velvet – I love the idea, in practice I can;t get it to work for me. But I am going to try…..

Looking forward to saying a little hello at IFB CON in nyc 🙂

    1. HAAA! I’m sure my neighbors think I’m nuts too with my tripod in the yard. Oh well!

Yeah, velvet can be tricky, but I know you can do it!

  14. Hello my dear friend, I am back so I had to say hi.
I am also in A/C all day. We are weel ove 40ºc, and after 12º in England it is quite a shock.
    Much love always.

  15. I love these looks! I’m totally into wearing large necklaces and that green one is fab! I also love wearing bright skirts with black sweaters and black tights.

I’m really excited about all of the strong, feminine pieces I am seeing for Fall.
