WVW: Shorts-n-Boots*

If you couldn’t see a teaser photo with that headline, would you have been thinking of Jessica Simpson in her Daisy-Dukes-and-cowboy-boots glory? While Jessica looked hot as in that ensemble, long gone are my days of wearing cowboy boots. Riding boots, yes, but cowboy boots no longer suit me, though I did wear them like a whole summer, of all times, back in college. Anyway.

I do like shorts with boots…it’s so unexpected, and you can only get away with that combo for a small space of time in between seasons. Come to think of it, I’ve done it quite a bit on the blog:

Of course, in this post I’m cheating a little bit because I’m wearing these crazy hybrid sandal boots, but they are classed as a boot. There’s something a little bad girl about wearing shorts with boots, don’t you think?

Are you a cowgirl or cowboy? Would you wear shorts with boots?

  1. I so would! I am loving your va va voom-approach to shorts and boots! This look is divine, Vahni! That second picture is a true show stopper. Meeauw!

  2. I love shorts. And I mos def love boots. It’s a no-brainer like peanut butter and chocolate. Only waaaay more sexy. You rock sex-ay like nobody’s business. And I I totally dig your sandal-slash-boot business with those shorts. I like the trouser cut of the shorts, and the incredible gams that adorn them. Meow!

  3. Dear V, so what I like the most in your appropriation is the way these “boot-likesques” sandals unveil your polished toes, subtly betraying a glossy harmony with your lipstick !!! OR a stylized way to express your (inner) “GLAMazon-ittude” ‘s (insolently) multi-faceted virtualities . . .
ps: Ooh I am pretty sure that you would dazzle in the style of (the “neo Vintage”) Jessica Simpson (“apostle of day to day Sexy / Glam ‘s supportive look”) !!!

    à Bientôt, Antoine

  4. Most interesting sandal boots. I always say the same, but it is because I truly believe it , you can pull off anything and take it to another level.
I love, love the second pic.
Thank you for your lovely words. I felt a bit naked about video blogging, but now is done.

  5. I am most definitely a cowboy!
I ugh…i dont think i would wear cowboy boots with shorts, but who really knows? My outfits usually relfect my mood so my mood my be extremely odd one day!

  6. I agree, shorts and boots is a great combo! I pretty much wear boots all winter, so I’m giving them, a rest just now, but maybe i should dig some out! those booty sandal hybrids are a perfect combination of warmth and booty coolness!

  7. I’m still exploring my fondness for shorts after many years of hating them with a passion. So, I’ve yet to work up to shorts and boots, but I love wearing motorcycle boots with my shorter floral dress. The contrast is simply perfect. As much as I like the sandal boots, I think I might have fallen for your riding boots!

Oh, and how on earth do I get Jessica’s abs?

  8. Yes I love shorts and boots. I agree – there IS something “a little bad girl” about wearing the two together!! I think it’s sexy! I am dying over your JC boots! You look amazing. 🙂

  9. Yep, I would and have rocked the boots + shorts…I especially love it when those shorts are leather :D.

I haven’t tried the sandal/boot hybrid! I feel I might be a tad short for this to look good on me but you rock it so well!

  10. Holy cow, Vahni!!! You look amazing. That’s not even a good word to describe you, I’m just at a loss. I think the shorts & boots combo is surprisingly badgirl/sexy, and you definitely pulled it off 1000% (not that I had any doubt that you would, with your bad self. Haha!)

  11. I’m not sure I’d wear my cowboy boots, but I love the sandal/boots you paried with your shorts, an awesome outfit altogether!

  12. I love boots with shorts – it’s a great look! Wow and look at JS’s abs in that photo! Mind you, I don’t think she ate whilst shooting that film! Bon soiree 🙂

  13. I love how you rock these shorts and boots. Anytime I see someone wearing shorts I’m drawn to wearing them myself , however they never look as good, sadly.

  14. Ohhhh my….I did it once. I did the shorts with the COWBOY boots thing! I was in my first year of law school (too old to have done it then, def. too old now 🙁 ) I remember taking a bunch of pictures that night too. They were these cheapy, pleather cowboy boot things. Hope those never resurface….Why did I just admit that on your blog? Great F&C bag. How nice of them!

  15. I love your slouchy shorts – such a great way to wear the shorts trend! I’m still working my way up to shorts again. Not quite sure how I’m going to pull that one off but this post is giving my ideas.

I do like shorts with boots, and I think the boot/sandal look is perfect for shorts. Great post as usual Vahni!

  16. I adore shorts and boots…I would adore it more if I had JS’s legs from that photo..to HOT for words.
Loving your look here…so chic…and I love the hybrid bootie..lol.
In the summer I wear dresses and cowboy boots…love that look!!!

  17. This look is definitely NOT for me. It puts my least attractive part–my knees–in the spotlight. But for those with fab legs, go for it. 🙂

  18. I went through a serious cowboy boot obsession last fall, but never did buy a pair. I think I just knew it wouldn’t be a wise investment because my interest would wane eventually. Anyway, I love this look on you! I’d never rock shorts and boots myself because my legs are of the short and stocky variety. I can only imagine I’d look more like an Oompa Loompa than Jessica Simpson. I actually don’t own a pair of shorts at all for that reason! Oompa Loompa Chic comes a little too easy for me…

  19. Those shoes are so interesting- I love it. and you look SEXY! 😉 I love the way you remixed basics into a really cool outfit.

  20. I totally wear boots with shorts! I have a cute modern ankle boot from Asos I got last year that is perfect with shorts. Just a smidge of cowgirl, made modern in a grey suede. Need to dig those out.

  21. Those sandal boots are so unique! I feel like I’ve seen something like the pair you have at Target before. I definitely like the look of a boot with shorts but sometimes girls can make it look way too slutty. There is a difference between a little sexyness and slutty!

  22. Call the Fire Department – V set the blogosphere ablaze!! Damn girl! You are hot, Hot HOT!! I love boots with shorts but here in my city eyebrows would be raised! Cowgirl boots – yes but other than that, no way.

  23. Hot stuff in the hybrids! I really wish I could rock this look I just don’t have the sexy legs to pull it off. You are H.O.T all the way V! xo Mish

  24. shorts and boots, yay! I do it all the time but usually with tights. Is that cheating? Your sandal boots are pretty amazing, I think if I was living in New York, Id come steal your entire shoe collection. Tell me your a size 9…. 🙂

  25. I love the boots they’re a little bit different and imo a lot nicer than cowboy boots. I do like women with shorts and boots but I think it can be quite difficult to pull off. You look fabulous as always however :-).

  26. I’m a fan! V you look fantastic as always, I do love that wonderful white F+C bag too! If I had boots like yours in the second image I think I’d wear them always… lol Shorts & mini skirts with boots are great, especially if styled like these above. -xxoo

  27. Confession: I’ve never worn cowboy boots! That said, these past nine months in Mexico have almost made me want to go there…almost. While I don’t love cowboy boots, I do love boots with shorts and I love your take on the combination. Your boot/sandals add a bit of edge to this classic look!

  28. I do like boots with shorts, but have never really worn them together…i think it’s a tricky one to pull off, but the way you do it here with those pseudo-sandal-boot works really well. Also really like the shirt your are wearing xx

  29. I love this look, although I am not sure if I can pull it off. I have never worn cowboy boots, but have recently started really really liking them a lot. You look great. You pull this off beautifully.

  30. I love the look of shorts with boots. Like you said, it looks so bad because it is so unexpected. I first fell in love with the look when I saw the remake of “Dukes of Hazzard” with Jessica Simpson, who, by the way, was so hot in that movie. I think cowboy boots with shorts make your legs look long and lean, and it emphasizes your glutes in a perfect way.

  31. Your legs are killer, V! I love the shorts/boots look. But mostly because of the hybrid pair you’ve chosen. I’ll do anything to let me toes breathe and these are perfect. Love the whole look and I think that’s the best J.Simpson has ever looked!

  32. I really like those boots! They are so different, and modern. I wouldn’t ear shorts with boots but it’s because I don’t wear shorts. I just feel awkward in them. I do wear my over the knee boots with my capri’s because it’s not as hot as full length jeans.

  33. I love your description of the open toe hybrid boots. You look remarkable in the shorts with the very long and toned legs : ))

  34. Thank you all for your comments and thoughts on the shorts+boots look. Several of you mentioned boots with minis or little dresses and I love that combo too. Thanks again!

  35. Catching up on my reading… love this look on you and just about everyone else! I generally avoid shorts at all costs, but I do love to wear boots with dresses and skirts. There si just something so sexy about that touch of skin between the hem and top of the boot! Love.

  36. I gotta admit, the post’s title instantly made me think of the character “Puss in Boots” from Shrek. I’m a kid at heart!

I love this look, though. I’ve worn shorts with boots numerous times, especially in the winter/spring in California. You gotta do it!

  37. Shorts and boots are the perfect combination, especially since I’ve never seen anyone where I live do that. Cowboy boots are less versatile, they have to be paired with the right outfit or else you can look a little too western-y. I’m digging your sandal-boot hybrids, they’re to die for!
