Worker V: 1.4

February 15, 2011 · 55 comments

Just a few days ago, I got dressed for work, and as I passed by my sliding glass door, coffee in hand, it dawned on me (no pun intended) that daylight time has changed.

I looked outside, and there was the glorious sun, smiling at me from the distance, bathing my backyard in a warm copper light. A cursory glance at my watch revealed that for once, I was actually running 15 minutes early (yes!); I had concocted a work look that I had never worn before, and it was neither freezing nor damp outside. Picture time!

I grabbed my camera, and using my sliding glass door as a mirror, I snapped a total of about six pictures…two of which were flawless, with exquisite sunbursts I am rarely able to capture using a tripod. Sometimes, it all comes together. Not bad considering it was a Monday morning.

NY & Co. cardigan, Country Road dress, Limited belt, Target tights, BCBG pumps.

Sharing is good

Great photos! And I really like that dress/cardigan combo.

Hooray for the changing of the season, too — I just noticed last night that there was still light in the sky when I left the house at 6:30 p.m. It seems to creep in more slowly in the mornings around here though.

How cool to find out your 15 minutes early! I love when that happens (though it rarely happens for me!)

Gorgeous pictures! I loved how the sunlight was captured behind you! And I don’t have to tell you that the dress is lovely! :)

This is my favourite kind of light, when the sun is just rising and breathes new life into everything. From these photos I can totally feel the atmosphere and the air, nice and fresh! I’m so glad to see the sun shining again, I thought I’d lost it forever, this winter seems to have gone on forever!!
I also LOVE what you are wearing, I think it’s so chic and simple, very classy but still girly.
I am sorry but I just have to say I am so in love with your garden and your area, can I come live with you?!!? :) haha
Much Love

What beautiful self shots! I love that dress you’re wearing! The sleeves look really interesting at the cuff. I like that they are more fitted at the forearm. Makes me wonder – are puff sleeves hiding under that cardigan?? :)
Lovely!

What a perfect start to the week! The sun is beautiful. I’ve also been noticing the daylight changing and I like what I see. This has to be one of my favorite shots Vahni. Everything is so picturesque from the sunlight, to the trees to the little fence in the background. Not to mention, YOU! Everything is just perfect. I love the way you rolled up the sleeves of your cardi to expose the longer sleeves of the dress. So lovely! xx

I’m so jealous of your yard. I live only a few feet from my neighbor’s and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve called the police over noise violations. We’re just on top of each other, and if one person decides they don’t want to be considerate it’s all over.

Anyway…

Love your work look. It’s very pretty. An your photos are beautiful.

Love,

Stunning! It looks so lovely where you live, like something out of Jane Austen. The pictures turned out flawlessly, and on a Monday no less. I’m super impressed! I love the dress too, and the belted cardi. I’ve always been a fan of that look but it never seems to translate when I try it. I just look…awkward. Oh well, I’ll just have to keep trying. Eventually I’ll get it right!

I am painfully aware of the time difference during the winter…I run out of light at 4:55….instead of 6-7-8ish in the summer. Ridic! It’s the only time I have for outfit posts, which explains my archives a whole lot…

These look marvelous! I will be writing a jumbo photography guide soon and including a tutorial for sun flares (which you can see me utilize here and here) hopefully soon!

I usually don’t like belts with sweaters, but I think you definitely did it right with this outfit. A lot of times I think it makes women look chunkier than they should look, but the pattern prevents that from happening with your outfit. Love it!
