Shoes, Qs, Rings, and Things

Ms. Veshoevius of The Taxonomy of My Wardrobe tagged* me to answer some questions a few weeks ago, and I’m just now getting around to answering them. Thanks, doll!

Any of you lovelies who’d like to answer on your blog, please do. Then give me a shout so I can check you out!

••

How would you describe your style?
Sophisticated but edgy.

Who or what inspires your style?
Ads, mags, celebrities, stylists, movies, and bloggers, mostly.

Who’s your fashion role model?
I don’t have just one. I adore the style of these boldfacers: Christine Centenera, Anna Dello Russo, Carine Roitfeld, Giovanna Battaglia, Leigh Lezark, Victoria Beckham, Charlize Theron, Diane Kruger.

What inspired you to blog about fashion?
My love of it. And the fact that (curiously) I ended up making a career for myself in the financial services industry instead of the fashion industry. It’s gotta come out somewhere.

What do you always carry with you?
Lipstick, sunnies, keys, and my iPhone. I used to always carry a Spyderco knife, too, but my hubby stole it from me.

What’s your favourite?  Jeans, sunglasses, or heels?
Heels all the way. Even naked is better in heels. I’m positive that’s what got Adam (and Eve) in so much trouble. No doubt she was in a fig leaf and stilettos.

My name is V and I'm a shoeaholic.

What is your favorite fashion store?
The Internet. That covers it all, doesn’t it? I love it because there is nothing I can’t get online.

What is your favorite fabric in clothing?
Cotton, followed by fur. Or maybe fur followed by everything else. I so don’t want to like it but I can’t help it.

What’s your favorite fashion accessory?
Big honkin’ rings, honey. And big honkin’ belts too. I don’t think I can pick just one.

A shot of my ring collection.

Who are your favourite designers?
Kors, McQueen, Elbaz for Lanvin, Mendel, Wang, Karan, Gucci, YSL, Etro, Missoni, Chloe, Dsquared², Bailey for Burberry, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Sass & Bide, Roland Mouret, Dennis Basso, Jean Paul Gautier (for JPG and Hermés), Dior, Cavalli, Max Azria, Vionnet…I could probably go on.

Would you choose to buy something high quality or make it yourself if you could?
I’m not a DIYer. I’m a buyer.

*The G&G Award Policy: Most awards or tagged posts stipulate that I pass the award on to others, but that doesn’t gel with my philosophy. Regardless, I remain grateful and immensely flattered by each award bestowed upon me…I just read too many great blogs to choose only a few for an award. I feel the best way to spread blog love is to mention stellar posts in my Sunday Coffee series, and to re-tweet posts that resonate with me.

Something I love about fashion blogging is how it draws people who think totally differently together. I like austere accessories and generally understated shoes, but I LOVE your style. I think that the most inspiring stuff is what I never would have chosen on my own.

And yes, your signature is big chunky accessories.. (belts and rings) and of course the dramatic/sexy body language you do for the camera.. Would die to photograph you one day

Sexy body language?! You’re funny. I feel like a total dork most of the time! One day, Lee. You and me and your camera have a date.

Haha loved your answers, doll! Although I am sad that the one thing I want to be online isn’t (H&M). I’ve been lusting for that sheer leopard maxi for so long – should’ve bought it when I was in California when I had the chance!! LOL

I love reading everything you post! Really I do. I wish I had a larger closet so I could get really “into” something, but I’m endlessly paired down because of space, and of course lack of money.

    • says

      Aw, thank you Heather!

The thing about a larger closet is that you just lose track of what you have, really! I have one full closet and room, plus another half a closet, and I still need more space. But I only wear about 30% of what I own on a regular basis.

This is so good V I have soooo not gone down the give away route. I did do one a while ago as I was approached by a company and they offered a £30 voucher of my choice of High Street store the only reason I agreed as I felt my readers would love the chance to win a £30 voucher I gained nothing from it.

I agree with so much you say here, My blog is really a record of what I wear and if others like that is just a bonus xoxo
