Everything You Wanted to Know About Blog Improvement But Were Afraid to Ask

Hello lovelies! Back from vacay and trying to get to all your AMAZING comments! I am such a lucky lady to have so many intelligent, thoughtful readers.

In the meantime, the page so many of you have asked about is now complete. All of you who have been wondering about the tools I use, those who have been looking for a consolidated list of my “better blog” posts, and those of you who have been thinking of moving from Blogger to WordPress…this is for you!

Build a Better Blog is a tab at the top of G&G, and there is also a special right rail ad for a bit.

Please feel free to share with others, and to provide feedback or sources for blog improvement that you think should be added.

I promise, back to fashion very soon!

  1. V First and Foremost I hope you have the most amazing time on your vaca! And secondly I don’t mind the break from fashion at all! Don’t get me wrong I just adore your style and fabulous pieces, but you just have such a great voice. You have incredible ideas and thoughts! And I always look forward to any interesting topic you may bring up for discussion! I cannot wait to dive into your “build a better blog” over the weekend when I have free time. Doesn’t matter if my blog is just a hobby, it can always be improved. Thanks for your incredibly helpful tips!!

    1. ‘Nuff said!

I’m always blown away by your posts – the thought provoking ones to the fashion bites and cool photography too. Am very grateful for the ‘build a better blog’ tips and advice even if mine is also just a hobby and full of ramblings! Look forward to sorting some bits out when back in Greece.

Well, my goodness…thank you so much! I am so flattered. I’m glad to know that my ramblings are helpful, at least sometimes!

  2. I am absolutely going to dive into that gorgeously-constructed page right now. I was actually wondering if you had a host or if you used WordPress.org so this answers my question. I’m thinking about switching hosts, setting up a WordPress and moving my personal blog over there. The only thing is that I don’t think I’ll be able to exactly duplicate my layout, and I don’t know if I’m quite ready to give that up yet. Call me sentimental. Anyway, thank you so much for this! Your organizational skills never fail to blow my mind!

  3. Hey V, I’m very happy with wordpress and love the new fresh look my blog now has. If anyone is thinking of moving to wordpress, do it. Your blog will have so many more options for you to choose from.

    1. Lee, thanks for the testimonial. It’s good for others to read about others’ experiences moving over to WordPress.

Bella, obviously you need to do what is right for you. I have just found (as most have), that WP is a better environment in the long run. Let me know if you need any help.

  4. WOW, thanks for this darling, I will go over your tab and read them all
Thanks so much for building this, you are invaluable for the blog world indeed

  5. I am happy with my blog at the moment, but it is grand to know that if I ever need help I can count on you, intelligent and knowledgeable beautiful lady.
    Un abrazo fuerte siempre.

  6. Welcome back!! I hope you had a marvelous vacation. I think it’s amazing that you took the time to put this page together for all of us. I can’t wait to refresh myself on the posts I’ve already had the pleasure of reading and then tuck into all the extra goodies you included. You are such a gem! xx

  7. Welcome back babes! Hope you had a great holidays with your hubby.
I also use Word Press and I am very happy about the tools. They are easy and very practical. Will definitely tweet that for my readers

  8. Hope you had an awesome vacay! This new feature is AWESOME! I’ve been very nervous about taking my blog to the next level and self hosting it so this information will be super helpful once I get the nerve to do it! And I also need to get a camera so I can start doing outfit posts. I’m going to look into the camera that you suggested!

Thanks so much for this V!

  9. Wow, V, this is incredible! I had no idea you already had something like this in the works. Bravo.

I don’t think I need to do my moving from blogger to wordpress post anymore – your links cover just about everything! LOL

I hope you had (are having?) a nice, relaxing vacation!

      1. Thanks, B! Thought of you when I was creating the new page. I had a feeling there might be something out there…why reinvent the wheel?

Vacay was short, but so nice. Thanks for your sweet comment!

        1. Very true. The only thing I MIGHT be able to add is the fact that I had some issues moving everyone who was following me via Google Reader over to my WordPress blog. I searched high and low on the internet for a solution and couldn’t find one, but I eventually fixed it through trial and error myself.

I am going to check out the links you have and see where my experience differed, and might post something from that angle. We’ll see!

Glad you enjoyed your vacay 🙂

  10. Hey V, hope the holiday was good ! have you burnt your credit card? 😉

Merci beaucoup for your efforts – and as I said last time : Amen 😉

Cant wait to read the holiday tales!

  11. wow this is exactly what i have been looking for. thx for writing this. i need to put into practice asap.
hope u had lots of fun on your vacay.

  12. Wow, just found your blog, and it’s just what I needed. Come for the fashion, stay for the blogging advice…

I’m on blogger, and kind of wishing I had gone with wordpress. Am I stuck forever? Is it too late? I’m also trying to make sure my blog traffic and web traffic are connected. I’m such a novice. Thanks! Shirley

    1. Hi Shirley, thank you and welcome!

Of course you’re not stuck, doll! All the tutorials to make the move are on my Build a Better Blog page. As long as you communicate your move, your readers will follow! And your Blogger blog will still be there. You have nothing to lose.

  13. What a great resource, I’m going to bookmark it and dip in over the next few weeks – though I’m a bit short on time for actually making said blog improvements at the moment! I’m a bit of a html luddite. Taking all my energy just to post!

    1. Hi Danielle, thank you and welcome! Just popped over to your blog and I like the feeling your photos have. Hope you’ll stop by again soon.

  14. This rocks V! I can’t wait to spend the next day or two researching all of this information you have provided us with. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I hope you relaxed and enjoyed your vacation.
    xo Mish

  15. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I always enjoy your candid talk about blogging, and you always inspire me to do some thinking about my own blog, or better yet, make some changes!!! I’m looking forward to going back over these posts and for lack of a better term, bettering my blog.

    1. Thank you Becca, glad this is useful for you! And as always, I appreciate the time you take to comment over here on G&G!

  16. Haven’t been by in a while due to extreme busy-ness, but I just wanted to say I found your survey results fascinating and very useful! I’ll check these posts out. I’m thinking about moving…from Tumblr to WordPress. But I’m busy as hell right now with the job that pays the bills, and I don’t want to lose my comment history.

    1. Thank you Cynthia! I understand your reluctance to lose your comments. I’ve never converted from Tumblr to WordPress, but I suspect you will not lose your history. I didn’t love mine when I imported from OnSugar and Blogger. When you do get time, maybe Google the topic and see what others have experienced.

  17. Awesome 😀 V, you’re like my go-to big sister in the blogiverse, your posts are just always interesting and I love that I can learn from you as well!
