WVW: Recycled and Remixed*

The elements of this look—worn for a casual day at home and errand-running—have all been included in other posts. I’ve never reworked them into this look, but I rather like it myself. I shopped my own closet for a change.

*WVW = What V Wore
Old Navy jacket, The Julia Dress, Target belt, Justina Leigh bracelet, Sportsgirl socks, Target legwarmers, Jeffrey Campbell clogs.

  1. You need some kind of award for reworking those leg warmers! Sweet idea, I have both the clogs and leg warmers at home – never thought of associating the pair of them!

PS: your hands in the pockets reminded me of the Alanis Morissette song!

    I’m broke but I’m happy
    I’m poor but I’m kind
I’m short but I’m healthy, yeah
    I’m high but I’m grounded
    I’m sane but I’m overwhelmed
I’m lost but I’m hopeful baby

What it all comes down to
Is that everything’s gonna be fine fine fine
I’ve got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving a high five

I feel drunk but I’m sober
    I’m young and I’m underpaid
I’m tired but I’m working, yeah
    I care but I’m worthless
I’m here but I’m really gone
I’m wrong and I’m sorry baby

What it all comes down to
Is that everything’s gonna be quite alright
I’ve got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is flicking a cigarette

  2. This looks like the perfect comfy-chic fall look! I need to start remixing pieces in my wardrobe too, thanks for the reminder 🙂

  3. Love it, so simple and combines all the elements that work well. I’ve had to pack in this similar way for my London trip!
You look ultra warm and stylish!

    1. Thank you Katie! I looooove legwarmers. Maybe it’s because I’ve always been totally in love with ballerina style.

  4. Fab outfit! love the legwarmers + clogs combination. What a good idea when the temperature drops and you still want to wear a dress and keep your legs from freezing! – I should drag my ballet legwarmers out .

  5. absolutely love this look! inspired! shopping ones own closet is such a good thing LOL. It is so sweet how you named the dress the Julia-dress, that story was wonderful. You both are such lovely people. <3

  6. Lately I find shopping my own closet to be more satisfying than buying something new. It forces me to be more creative with my looks and it’s good for my bank account. I love how you put this look together and that you showed us how you reworked the pieces from other looks. As much satisfaction as I get through shopping my own closet, I think Fall might require me to buy a jacket like yours! xx

    1. Thank you Brooke. I’m soooo bad about buying, buying, buying. I need to do more of this, for sure. Thanks for your comment, honey!

  7. I love when you go through you wardrobe and mix match everything and make this new look all nice and fresh
I love the cotton jacket.. ( i must confess I have a thing for jackets)

    1. Thank you Lee! I’m glad people found this interesting. Sometimes I occasionally surprise myself with new combos.

  8. The striped dress looks so fresh with the military inspired jacket and leg warmers. You have inspired me to break out my black & white striped dress from summer and do a re-do. xo Mish

  9. i love how you did this, showing us the three pictures you’re choosing items from and then remixing them to create a completely new outfit. what a smart idea. you’re never-ending creativity is such a huge source of inspiration.

and i love the new outfit. perfect fall comfy chic. you should join the blog event, fall weather suits you! (unless you joined already and i missed it of course!)

    1. Hey doll, thank you! I hope I have time to do your event. I just never know! I want to think seriously about it before I commit. That’s me….150% or zip!

Your comment really made me smile. Thanks again.

  10. I shouldn’t really add a comment, because a few people have said it nicely above. But the combo is both fresh and classic. Stripes with army parka = no brainer. Mixing it with clogs and leg warmers = artistic genius.

  11. I think you’re the first person I’ve seen wearing clogs in a way I’ve liked: I’d never have thought of the legwarmers, but they really work: such a great look for colder days. And stripes are like crack to me, so obviously I love the dress, too 🙂

(Also, thanks for your lovely comment yesterday – have added you to my blogroll/Bloglovin!)

    1. Hi Amber, thank you! Don’t know where the inspiration for the legwarmers with clogs came from, but it’s so fun to wear. And definitely warm.

Stripes are like crack…love it! I, too, love a bold black-and-white stripe!

  12. Ahh! Leg warmers! I totally forgot about those fall accessories. Wonder where mine got put in the move. I’m loving the look of the black leg warmers with the brown clogs. – Katy

    1. Lacee, hello, thank you, and welcome! I LOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEE your blog. OMG. I’m so glad you dropped me a line. I’m going to be visiting you regularly!

    1. Thanks, Jen! It’s actually several seasons old. But so many retailers are doing the utilitarian look that I’m sure you can find something comparable.

Also, I think Location Central is a lovely idea…I would totally participate if I weren’t squeamish about divulging my locale. Good luck with it, though!

  13. I love me a good remix! I really enjoy doing this with my clothes. That jacket is so perfect for early fall weather, and I love the legwarmers with clogs idea. You look fabulous!

    xoxo, Ashley

  14. gah-lee. you had me at army green jacket + stripes!
but the leg warmers + clogs are hot duo that never crossed my mind. FAB.

  15. loeg warmers with clogs is a really good idea, esp. now that things are cooling down. and i’m always goad to see people remixing and getting more fun out of their clothes! i hope this trend continues to be more popular on outfit blogs…steph

    1. Thank you Steph! Actually, shopping your closet is very popular amongst the fashion blogging world. I just don’t do enough of it myself, or I don’t tell you when I am. Will do this more often in the future, however.

  16. I have a pair of legwarmers that have just been waiting in my drawer since I bought them for a costume. Thanks for the inspiration to bust them out!

  17. I am just back from hospital, but I had to stop by your blog , and tell you what wonderful autumn look you are wearin.
    Xo xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx guapa!!!!

    1. Oh…I hope you are OK Sacramento! Thank you for stopping by, and for always being so generous with your kindness!

    1. Hey B, thank you doll. Miss seeing your name over here! But you’ve been so busy rocking stellar copies I know you have no time left!

    1. HA! I do what I can. Thanks for your comment, and welcome! They do kind of work with the leg warmers, don’t they. I only every wear mine with flares or like this. I can’t seem to get into them with tights or bare legs.

  18. This is the second time I’ve seen legwarmers on someone since, oh I don’t know, 1982! Are they back? Seems like it. They look great over your clogs by the way. Really cute in a very non-Xanadu kind of way.
