Friend Friday: Fall Forecast

This week, Katy decided to take her Friend Friday* questions in a more lighthearted direction ( fall 2010 fashion!), and I’m so glad she did. Because from about the beginning of August annually, I just can’t wait to get back to fall, so all my beloved boots and cozy knits can come out and play.

Here are the questions:

  1. What new fashion trend are you looking forward to sporting this fall?
  2. Which item in your closet is most likely to be your go-to transition piece?
  3. What item from last year are you looking forward to reinventing this fall?
  4. What is your favorite part about this time of the year?
  5. Will you be attending any fashion events this fall?

*The Friend Friday project by Modly Chic is a way for bloggers to share more about themselves and create a friendly connection with other bloggers. Katy of Modly Chic sends us questions weekly, and we answer on our blogs.

  1. 1. chambray shirt. i’ve been wearing it with my grey suit, burgundy sweater vest, and python pumps. Not a trend but I plan on getting a “riding” jacket that sold out on me last year but has been brought back. I’ll probably be broke for a while after that!!
    2. trench coats, but I wear them at least once a week even in the summer.
    3. You just reminded me of the thigh high boots. It would be cool to find a flat leather version.
    4. less hot.
    5. i wish.

I wish I could do the fur thing, but it’s just doesn’t get cold enough to justify it. I love the way those black shaggy monkey fur coats look, kind of tacky but I love it.

  2. I am a vegetarian, as you know, however I own some leather bags and boots, so good for you loving your furs. Your bag looks good on you, but perphaps because you can pull just about anything.
As ever, you are sooooooooo wonderful!!

    1. Thank you Sacramento! You are so sweet. And you might be right…I can pull off just about anything, but mostly because I’m not really afraid to try. Part of it is your confidence in your ability to do it!

    1. Thank you Karolina! It’s crazy how much drama red lips and fingertips bring to a plain black ensemble. Have a lovely weekend, bella!

  3. Your enthusiasm is infectious! 🙂 Though the weather is not anywhere near fall in Texas I am still looking forward to my thigh high boots, trench coats, leggings, and even light cashmere! Just wish this heat would leave me alone already!!!!

    1. Thank you Tanvi! I appreciate that. It will be a while before I can really wear all my heavy things, but the time is near. Looking forward to seeing you in your boots…I’m curious!

  4. Loved your video! You should do this all the time!!! Grit and Glamour TV 🙂 Also with you on the fur, can’t wait to see more of those big fuzzy vests you previewed:) Heeled hiking boots are also on my radar…
    Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. MaryChris, thank you honey! G&G TV…funny. At least for now, it’s once a week, so please come back!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend too!

  5. I love leopard print too! It was really popular last winter so I’m glad I invested in a leopard print coat that I can wear again this season. Also, as a vegetarian I don’t wear fur, but I do love faux fur 🙂

Unlike you, I LOVE heat and I’m hoping most of my winter will be spent in a hot hot hot sunny country! 😀

    1. I’m sure you are totally going to love your leopard coat for this year. And isn’t it nice that there is so much faux fur out there now?! I’ve seen some amazing pieces that you almost can’t tell are not the real deal!

PS: I’ll send you all the heat and humidity over here. Just send me your address. xo

  6. LOL “Vegans, this is not for you.” That was adorable!

I also have a pair of suede thigh-high boots that I’m SO excited to wear! 🙂

And, I love all your furry vests- I really want one of my own.

    1. Ooh, I can’t wait to see your boots, Suze! And there are vests out there at every price point now. So go for it. When you’re off the shopping ban, of course.

      Thanks for your comment, honey!

  7. I thoroughly enjoy your videos because it’s like your not talking to the camera at all! It’s as if I’m in sitting the in chair across from you with a beverage in hand while you try on your furs! You definitely put an extra kick in my Fridays 😉 Love the upcoming fall choices + your work wear/lipstick is h-a-w-t!!!

    1. Thanks Raven, I always really wonder if people like them or not. But they seem to. And I have to admit that I’ve seen some that are pretty painful to watch. So it’s good to know that I have a group of people who sincerely enjoy them.

And thank you for the compliments! I go in phases with the red lipstick. Guess it’s on again.

  8. Love the look in your video!

Autumn is my favorite fashion season –> sexy boots, trenchcoats, fab rings… all these stuff I can never wear in the winter as i wear my duvet as a coat and my pillows as gloves.

What is your lippy’s shade if you dont mind me asking? 🙂

    1. Thank you Lady N! The lippie is the same I wore in WVW: Fall Preview: Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor in Are You Red-dy . Honestly the best red I have ever worn, and the lipstick itself is outstanding….I’ve tried sooo many. It doesn’t feather or flake…plus it’s the perfect consistency. And cheap!

  9. The fur vests are fantabulous!! So lucky you can wear those where you live! I’m also digging the leopard print trend. Definitely going to try to incorporate that into the wardrobe!

    Great video as always!

    1. Thanks MJ…I am lucky that where I live has four lovely seasons. I really don’t like too much of anything in either direction. I’m looking for a wide leopard belt now…harder to find than I thought.

  10. Loved this vlog ! Love Autumn/Winter fashion! My favourite season too. You are a woman after my own heart! You picked all the trends I love. Loving those fur gilets and I’m hanging out for thigh high boots too. Unfortunately it is still too wet and muggy to wear my furry, shaggy pieces for another couple of months yet so I’m stuck wearing a waterproof for now!

    1. That makes two of us…just cannot swing it and I feel so bummed, and like my blog will die if I don’t go. Oh well.

      Thanks for checking in, hon!

  11. Ah! I have such mixed emotions about vegenism. Because I see where they are coming from half the time!

But you look so stunning. Great Friend Friday post 🙂 You’ll have to show me how I can start doing these as videos as cool as yours soon 🙂

    Classy and Delicious

    1. Erica, if I had to procure my own meat, pelts, etc., I would have a very different view. I couldn’t do it. That’s the truth, for better or for worse.

But thank you for your compliments and comment. As for my vlogs…they are so rudimentary! I’m still shocked anyone even thinks they are cool. I just push ON and talk. There is no special recipe!

    1. Thank you, Julia! I think we could pretty easily swap closets. Our taste is very similar. Hope you have a great weekend, sugar!

  12. “The heat is gone! I hate heat.” Amen, sistah! woot! woot! haha
You’re the cutest! I can definitely hear how thrilled you are with Fall and all the fashion goodies that come along with this upcoming season. :o) Bring on the FUR! I found the fur vest I want on the Michael Kors site a couple of weeks ago, but the site flakes out now when I try to pull it up. BOO!
Your thoughts on the upcoming curvy wear, thigh highs, and animal prints (that purse is swoon-worthy) are spot on. Agree with ya on all counts and am waiting with bated breath for the cooler temps.
Gurlie, when the next fashion week rolls around and IFB has it’s next confra, we should go!

    1. Thanks you sweetpea! I’ve seen the MK vest in the local store, and it’s a good one. Google it…Nordys might have it. You’ll find it. I see it on the MK site now, for pre-order, but only in a medium. Don’t know if that will work for you or not.

Thanks for popping by and for your comment!

  13. I really enjoy wearing faux fur and I do not enjoy heat either. I will post some of my fur finds on my blog this weekend. I so agree about women loving their curves instead of calling them flaws.

  14. V – I am in love with that bag! So adorable. And I am looking forward to seeing you remix the vests this year. I always feel those bulky vests make me look like a shape-less bear, so I’m going to take note of how you wear them and still pull of feminine and fun. – Katy
PS – love your outfit in this video.

    1. Katy, hey doll, thanks for your sweet words! We’ll see how the vests go. I just sourced a local retailer doing real fur vests in designs I’ve not seen before. I think there is a new one in my future!

  15. Reading you on the leopard – can’t get enough of the stuff! Unfortunately on someone my height fur vests would make me look like an Ewok…
This is the first time I’ve seen your vlog – you’re so brave! Good work!

    1. Mrs. B, thank you! Don’t know if I’m brave or stupid, but mostly, people seem to like the vlogs. They’re straight and uncut…like a real conversation.

And the leopard…I think we’re all feeling our inner feline these days. Meow!
