It’s summer in the U.S., and that means lots of us are taking off for some fabulous vacation destination. Not me, sadly—but anyway, that’s the Friend Friday* topic du jour.
We were asked the following questions:
- Are you going anywhere this summer that will require a suitcase?
- What are your ‘must-pack’ items?
- When it comes to makeup how much of your collection do you pack? What do you take? What do you leave behind?
- Do you have any travel packing advice?
- What one item should every woman pack when going on a vacation?
*The Friend Friday project by Modly Chic is a way for bloggers to share more about themselves and create a friendly connection with other bloggers. Katy of Modly Chic sends us questions weekly, and we answer on our blogs.

Ha! Now I didn’t say I don’t struggle. Actually I don’t struggle packing, that is true. I never forget anything and my clothes arrive nearly wrinkle-free. But for my international flights, I almost always have to bay overweight baggage fees, thanks to all my big honkin’ platforms! So yeah, limiting myself is a struggle.
Thanks for your comment, doll. Your Comment Luv link is reminding me of that blueberry concoction you made. Mmmmm…

I love the ziplock bag tip! I’ll definitely try that. And I totally agree that you should take wet wipes – they’re so useful! I also always travel in leggings and tunics – so comfortable and easy. Great blog once again!

Thank you sweetie! I’m actually addicted to wet wipes. I have them in purse on a daily basis. The ziplocs really do help. Let me know if you do have the opportunity to try them out.

Thanks J, you’re always so incredibly supportive and kind…I truly appreciate it! Happy weekend to you too, love!
I see you’re a fan of the big scarf too! Great advice about saving the bling until you arrive at your destination. I love showing up for a 5:30 am flight and someone in front of me in the security line is wearing 23 metal items they need to remove. Did they not know that their first stop of the day was going to be at a metal detector? (Just a little pet peeve of mine. lol!) Have a great weekend!

Why am I not surprised that we have yet another thing in common? Yeah, the clueless people at the metal detector drive me nuts too.
You have a lovely weekend, too, Piper!

Aw, that makes my day and night! Thank you Amy. I sincerely appreciate it!
Great video, brilliant advice!
Zip lock bags are a great idea, good for laundry too.
I always carry sunscreen & wet wipes everywhere (I’m too clumsy & pale not too!)
@gritandglamour
July 9, 2010
Thank you Julia! Yes, sunscreen…I take it with me even for an overnighter! I’m so glad you take care of your pale skin. It is part of what makes you so beautiful.
Martinis, yes. Absolutely.
I love that you’re answering the questions on a video! And I’m glad that I don’t have to work on Fridays so that I can be home to watch them!
Your travel tips are fantastic, especially about using the ziploc bags. GENIUS! Wish I’d thought of it years ago! Will definitely implement that next time. Thanks!

Thank you so much, Melissa! You’re a sweetie to be so generous with your compliments. Please do let me know about the ziplocs…we all love to know when an idea flies, don’t we?!!
Thanks for your comment…til next week, then!
Thanks for filming the vlog in different locations. It just adds to the V persona. I look forward to the Friend Friday post and I’m secretly glad you aren’t taking a hugh holiday this summer. (Yes, that is very selfish and I feel a little guilty about writing that).

Thanks Beverly…I am slightly terrified, though. Sometimes I’m afraid I’ll let everyone down. But it makes me feel good to know that someone out there actually looks forward to my posts. So don’t feel one bit guilty!
Ooh, I LOVE Dallas. I’m at the bottom of the compact though. Time to stock up!

And you HAVE been reading every word…cause it is indeed Bombay Sapphire. Maybe I need to vlog that since I finally JUST learned how to make my signature drink myself. Hmmm.
