WVW: Wedges and Lace*

July 7, 2010 · 85 comments

While on vacay recently, my very limited Internet access allowed me a brief glimpse of a blog post that had me singularly obsessed with something I recently said I found to be too “juvenile” for my tastes. After I spotted this fab bloggerista sporting a very Nouvelle Vague shade with some decidedly grown-up (and epic) ensembles, I had to revise my opinion. She rocked it; I loved the look and decided I needed that shade, pronto. I drove myself crazy looking for it in Charleston, SC drugstores, to no avail. But on my first day back, I Ulta’ed, I polished, and I photographed, in true blogger fashion.

Since I inserted my foot in my mouth with my juvenile comment, let the record show that the accompanying footwear would be these newly scooped wedges (thank you Saks closeout sale, you made my weekend). But I have said in the past that I like to make and break my very own rules, so forewarned is fair warned. I’m loving my Tiffany blue tips with these chunky wedges and a dress someone once called my Gothic Barbie look.

Wanted to point out a new widget in my right rail…see Bloglovin’ These Blogs? Finally, Bloglovin’ has created a way for bloggers to share their following list. Mind you, the widget is not perfect…each time you add someone, you have to grab the code again and repaste to your widget. But it’s still great! And the list changes when you refresh the page. Love that.

So there is my list. Are you following me and aren’t on the list? Please tell me. I definitely want to check you out too!

Sharing is good

I have that very same nail polish and recently tried it the first time and I loved it just as much! Too bad it didn’t last that long on my nails because it was rather goopy in texture, very thick and hence easily to drag from the nails :-( I might have to try it a second time though and see if it happens again.

Irina, mine went on OK…but it did tend toward the thick side. Maybe you got an old bottle?

I’m so glad that you decided to break one of your nail polish rules. The colour looks great and is so fresh for the summer. I’m a nail polish junkie as well and I struggle with putting lighter blues and greens on my nails. I dabbled in jade for about a week before opting for a safer midnight blue that is basically black ha ha I love your wedges and the necklace is gorgeous. It’s a true statement piece and I love that it ties at the back with a ribbon. Definitely adding a few more to my inspirations!! xx

My site designer did add a Bloglovin’ widget, but I don’t think anyone can tell, LOL. It’s a little heart in the top-left c orner. I think it looks pretty but perhaps it’s not doing the job if no one know what on earth it is! Haha.

You look fantastic!! I adore the dress and the wedges, and that shade of nail polish is absolutely gorgeous. I’ve been obsessed with jade-colored nails ever since Chanel’s fall 2009 show (http://ledefile.wordpress.com/2009/09/28/it’s-easy-being-green-chanel-sends-green-tips-down-the-runway/)….so fabulous!! Love your necklace too, by the way.

Thank you so much Halie! Yes, Jade and then Nouvelle Vague certainly turned the fashion world inside out, didn’t they? I have loved these shades on other ladies, but for some reason until last weekend, they didn’t feel right for me. But I’m loving all the knockoff shades now since Chanel is totally sold out!

I had never thought about associating that nail polish color before – in true Goth Barbie i usually have pink but this looks awesome.

The wedges are ace, I am having a hard time finding wedges that are not farmyard lady style!
