My 4th: Goats, Explosives, and Wickedly Good Martinis

July 6, 2010 · 34 comments

Wow, gone for a few days from home and my PC and I’m struggling to catch up!

I was off having a fantabulous time in one of my all-time favorite southern U.S. cities: Charleston, South Carolina. Here are a few snaps…it was a very diverse experience, from farm life to fireworks, to Hall’s Chophouse* to shopping and the beach.

Loading up on fireworks. Yes they are legal in SC!

Celebrating the 4th of July with our own show.

In downtown Charleston, on my favorite corner. No, not because of Louis—though there is amazing shopping in this area. Starbucks is across the street and that's where I headed promptly after this photo!

Farm life. Who knew goats loved watermelon?

Also, since my last post, my piece on Photography for the Amateur, Stagefright-Afflicted Blogger was picked up as a feature on the Independent Fashion Bloggers site—yay!

I also received an I heart your blog award from Jemina Jakin, that I fully intend to pay forward—thanks again Jemina!

*Highly, highly, highly recommended. Martinis that will make you cry, they’re so good. Charleston’s best steaks, and it’s locally owned. Think exposed brick, piano jazz, and gorgeous Southern people. Love.

Sharing is good

Looks like you had an amazing weekend with a little bit of everything! Martinis good enough to make me cry – that’s worth a trip to SC right there! Now I want to hear more about these martinis…

Ha! Thanks Piper. OK, those martinis…my signature drink. Bombay Sapphire, very dirty, shaken hard, three bleu cheese stuffed olives. Heaven. And they pack a wallop!

Oh, you are just too sweet. Thank you! Hope your weekend was great too.

I WAS feeling carefree in that photo. Kind of casual and comfy. I even made it through the hodgepodge of street surfaces in platform stilettos!

HA! Yeah, the goats fascinated me. I actually have a shot on my iPhone of that same goat with her head totally in the watermelon! By the time I managed to grab my proper camera, she had already broken it wide open.

Thanks Jemina!

Thank you Ms. Brit! You know, I missed my blog reading too! It’s crazy. It’s the first time I’ve been so disconnected. It was both a blessing and a curse.
