WVW: Safety Pins*

Today was a day for two oldies-but-goodies that inhabit my closet. The slim-cut pants have been hanging round for about 10 years. Maybe you’re thinking, but where are the safety pins?

Ah, there they are! On oldie-but-goodie number two: my Dolce & Gabbana slingbacks. And no, I did not pin these myself. I actually bought them that way. When I was 15, I had a vintage leather jacket (that I stole from my dad) with a tight row of dozens of safety pins going up one sleeve. That was my best DIY, I think. Wish I still had the jacket, but since I don’t, when I need to channel my inner rebellious teen, I rock the Dolce’s and crank The Cult.

BCBG one-sleeve tunic and hinged ring, Guess pants, Dolce & Gabbana safety pin slingbacks,
Loft clutch, sterling ring…have no idea.

    1. Thanks Piper. Yeah, why on earth did I get rid of the jacket? I could kick myself. Thank you again for always writing so many nice things.

    1. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! I so love Nikita. I want to be Nikita. You honor me my dear. Now I have the trailer and opening music in my head too. Actually, I think I’ll play the soundtrack. Yes, I have it!

  1. Wow, you look so chic!! I love the black on black, and your silhouette is so streamlined! Fabulous!! And those Dolce & Gabbana shoes are amazing…

    1. Thank you Tchelet. You and Nina need to get yourselves on Bloglovin’….please! I really want to follow you there. Every time I hit your blog, I get a big smile on my face when I see the header image. The. Cutest. Thing. EVER!

    1. Thank you Leia! Can I just say again how much I am coveting that amazing tea service? If you ever want to sell, please look me up.

  2. My sister has d&g’s ankle boot version of those, it’s a whole row of safety pins going up the front, but I think I prefer your style, a little more subtle.

I really really love your rings, I’m still looking for a good ring that goes beyond the knuckle

    1. Hi Audrey…thank you so much! Just stopped by your blog too. Following you on Twitter so I can keep up. I’m really intrigued by all the interning you’ve done, and with some great companies.

Oh, and you and your boyfriend are beautiful together!

    1. Thank you! That’s a major compliment coming from someone who shoots amazing photos herself.

And thanks for adding my to your right rail…you rock!

  3. I am in love with this outfit! I used to have an obsession with safety pins! The heels (that are amazing by the way) are a great way to add a simple and still elegant edge to the look! Great job styling this outfit!

  4. Omg. I love this outfit so much, I don’t even know where to begin. That shirt is FABULOUS!! The design is unique and classy. I also love your ring. But those shoes. I die. Seriously. So. Freaking. Cool. Brilliant, really. You look awesome. Enough said. 🙂

    1. Now you are just too, too sweet Ms. Fabulous! Thank you so very much for your kind words and for visiting. I am so flattered.

  5. I love all the black, it works so well! And those shoes are amazing!!
This is my first time on your site; I like it a lot! I am now following you

    1. Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It would have been. Not that I don’t have some pieces in my wardrobe that are a decade old!

Thanks for your comment Wendy. Have I told you how much I love your jewelry? Only wish I could afford the pieces I’m really lusting after. You’re so talented. I’m so flattered that you took the time to stop by.

  6. Very polished, chic look!
Loving the shoes, the safety pin detail is outstanding…and those rings – WOW! Chunky rings are my ultimate weakness….!
What colour / brand is your nail polish? Love it:)
Thank you for taking the time to look at my blog, I really appreciate it!
I’ll try and add inspirations again, I must have done something wrong!!

    1. Recent commenters, I am on holiday without full Internet access. I will respond to your comments as soon as I am able, and I thank you all for your kind words and compliments! V

    1. Thank you so much Liz. I jumped over to your blog too…love the photo of your nails in that bright OPI orange. I’m a total polish nut! Especially OPI.

  7. This has to be my favorite look ever from you. Bloody creative! I used to play with safety pins when I was younger too, but I never thought about the shoe customisation -only bags and tshirts. Gorgeous, and I’d wear those in the office too. Understated chic at its best! like I said to Kristy Elena, my favorite looks are like yours and hers, where you dont need to flash the cash to look amazing! xx

  8. I love this all black look. It’s so chic yet edgy at the same time. I think your shoes may have inspired me to try a little DIY of my own with some safety pins and leather. I also love that you chose a sleek ponytail but gave it a bit of a twist by tying a second elastic around the middle. It just polishes the whole look off. As do those amazing rings…jealous!! You look amazing xx

    1. Aw Brooke, thank you sweetie! Sometimes I do feel the need to live (and dress) on the edge. The great thing about this outfit is it is super comfy and doubles as work-appropriate.

I hope you do a safety pin DIY. Would love to see it.
