I’ve written about Lady Gaga before…I wasn’t really a fan until I saw her Paparazzi video. Since then I’ve downloaded a couple songs, and eventually ended up buying The Fame.
Can I say I’m even more impressed? She’s got real, unadulterated talent. As a songwriter, her lyrics aren’t particularly profound, but she still has the ability to pen catchy pop tunes (for the Pussycat Dolls, Britney Spears, Fergie, and others as well as herself). Add to this that she has been playing piano and writing music for piano from childhood, that she is unique and provocative, and well, that’s why she’s now a bonafide star.
But don’t take my word for it. Check out two acoustic sets she played and be your own judge. She’s amazing. Even though her voice isn’t especially unique (she sometimes sounds like Madonna, Gwen Stefani, or Christina Aguilera), her voice + the musical chops + the quirk factor + the dancing and entire package make her the kind of artist that won’t be fading into the sunset for a long time.
