OK. The introspection lasted 24 hours. We all know it’s a matter of record that I probably have the shortest attention span of any adult. Now there are virtues with which I am acquainted: generosity and honesty; but patience and temperance have never been formally introduced. So be it.
However, in fairness to me, this is not a life confession. This is utterly frivolous. Just the things I’ve been thinking about today. Let the frivolousness begin!
I just ordered these boots, and I cannot WAIT til they come in! Despite the fact that retailers are already shoving bikinis down our throats (and schmuck that I am, I even bought one), it’s still cold as a hell outside in my neck of the woods. I’ve been looking for a taller, Ugg-like boot for a while, but something sexier and less ubiquitous than Uggs. Then I finally found these babies, and let me tell you that they will probably look sensational with everything, including a bikini. I kid you not. I recently test drove this look (bikini + Uggish boots) in the mountains when I had to brave frigid 15-degree cold to get into a toasty outdoor hot tub. Hey, if it’s good enough for Aspen, it’s good enough for Tennessee. The look went over, to say the least. But I digress. I’ve extolled the virtues of boots before, but just in case you missed that sermon, never underestimate the power of mid-calf to knee-high boots on silky-smooth, bare legs.
So on to my next find, at of all places, Old Navy. Don’t get me wrong; I LOVE Old Navy. But this is not typical O.N. fare: sexy panties! Boy shorts, bikinis, thongs, lace, mesh…huh? At Old Navy? Yes. And at 5 for $15! Ladies, get there soon cause some of the cutest, sexiest ones aren’t on the Web site, are already selling out, and they are well worth the trip.
Finally, I spent some quality time with my iPod, iTunes, and an iTunes gift card. Acquired some excellent new tracks and some oldies-but-goodies. For new stuff, Alicia Keys‘ latest album, As I Am, rocks. Very good. For older stuff…man, I’ve already had a blast listening to these tracks:
- P.M. Dawn: Set Adrift on Memory Bliss
- Suzanne Vega: Tom’s Diner
- Lauryn Hill: Doo Wop (That Thing)
- Lauryn Hill: Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You
- L.L. Cool J: Doin‘ It
- New Order: Bizarre Love Triangle
PS: OK, maybe I need to make one teensy little confession related to the New Year. 2007 was a hell of a landmark year in my life, no doubt. I made progress, made decisions, and took action instead of just bitching. Did some off the wall things, and then some. It was good; it made me stronger, put me back in touch with myself.
But for me, 2008 is about full liberation, in every sense of the word. Freedom. Mental, physical, emotional. I’m just going to smile and be free. Less scheduled, even more open minded. ‘Cause I’ve discovered that the more I break my own rules, the more fun I seem to have.
