With Thanksgiving around the corner, ‘tis the season for giving thought to what one is thankful for. I am thankful for many, many things this year. Here’s my shortlist, for the record:
- The Internet. What in the hell did we ever do without it? These days, the Internet enables me to keep in touch with friends near and far; gives me a place to ponder, preach, pine, and play; and best of all, connects me to stores, clothes, shoes, bags the world over. Nothing is unattainable anymore! Gotta love that.
- Skype. I still have no idea how I can talk to my overseas friend for an obscene amount of hours monthly for absolutely, positively nothing! Aside from (or along with) the Internet, this is the greatest invention of the 21st century. Well, perhaps behind Botox. Will let you know as soon as I start injecting stuff in my head.
- My BlackBerry. They don’t call these babies Crackberries for nothin‘. I thought for a long time I couldn’t live without a watch until mine went on a six-week hiatus at the watch spa that’s going to cost me more than my own spa escapades ever have. But I can live without a watch. Just don’t try to separate me from the BlackBerry! Without it, I start feeling a little nauseated and shaky. Maybe that’s cause I have no life.
- Bombay Sapphire Dirty Martinis.
Who needs illegal drugs? Let me make you one of my Dirty Martinis and you’ll feel no pain. In fact, you’ll feel no pain, you’ll be happy, you’ll love everyone, and the world will suddenly seem like a much better place. All you need is one or two max. I swear if I could get away with drinking one every night I would. I’m thinking if I have kids, they might be the only way I’ll make it through. (Just kidding, people.)
And finally…the serious stuff…
Of course, I am most grateful for all the wonderful people in my life. Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Cheers!
