The 300

Finally got to see 300 (the movie) tonight…I’ve been dying to see it since I heard about it months ago.

Despite the fact that it had some questionable characters and really wasn’t fully believable even though the basic story is true, I still enjoyed the movie. Makes you damn proud to be a Greek (especially when your people are from just around the corner from Sparta).

Come on…300 men in loincloths, knee-high gladiator sandals and rock-hard abs? Any woman into the virile warrior type would like this movie, and for action and fight scenes, the guys would like it too. I liked it as much as Gladiator and Troy. But I must confess, I already liked Gerard Butler based on his performance in Phantom of the Opera. I thought he was a rocking King Leonidas…Russell Crowe, you’ve met your match!

Synopsis
Based on the epic graphic novel by Frank Miller, 300 is a ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. Facing insurmountable odds, their valor and sacrifice inspire all of Greece to unite against their Persian enemy, drawing a line in the sand for democracy. The film brings Miller’s (Sin City) acclaimed graphic novel to life by combining live action with virtual backgrounds that capture his distinct vision of this ancient historic tale.
